Eligibility Information and Competition Guidelines
Queen/King candidate- must be 18 yrs old or older as of 1/1/27
Princess/Prince candidate - must be 13-17 yrs old as of 1/1/27
Jr. Princess/Jr. Prince - must be 12 yrs old or under as of 1/1/27
Events you are required to attend:
Quiz & Interview
When: Thursday, June 4th, 2026 - 7:30pm
Where: Scandia Community Center
Dress: Solid colored long-sleeved collared western shirt, jeans, cowboy boots and a western hat
Information: You will be introduced at the beginning of the general membership meeting and then you will take a 10-question quiz on general horse knowledge. You will then be called individually for your interview. The interview panel consists of 2-4 club members/current royalty and has approximately 4 questions.
Riding Competition
When: Sunday, August 23rd, 2026 – 8:30am
Where: Scandia Riders Saddle Club Arena - during the SRSC Closed Combo Show
Dress: Solid colored long-sleeved collared western shirt, jeans, cowboy boots and a western hat
Information: This portion of the royalty competition focuses on riding, where you’ll compete against others running for the same title. Events include showmanship, western horsemanship, barrels, and poles. Royalty classes are held separately from age division classes. If you’d like to compete in your age group as well, you’ll need to enter and run each class twice. Please fill out an entry card for each royalty class; however, there is no fee for these entries. Keep in mind that royalty showmanship is the first class of the day, so be sure to arrive on time and be ready to go.
Read your Speech
When: Thursday, October 2nd, 2026 - 7:30pm
Where: Scandia Community Center
Dress: Solid colored long-sleeved collared western shirt, jeans, cowboy boots and a western hat
Information: You will deliver a speech (no longer than 5 minutes) to club members at the monthly general membership meeting.
In your speech, please:
Coronation
When: Saturday, January 9th, 2027 – SRSC Annual Banquet
Where: Scandia Community Center
Dress: Solid colored long-sleeved collared western shirt, jeans, cowboy boots and a western hat
Information: No matter the outcome, we’re proud of you for choosing to run for royalty and grateful to everyone for demonstrating great sportsmanship.
